YOUTHFUL-DRAMATIC SOPRANO

Facing vocal and physical challenges, immersing oneself in thrilling stories, and embodying various roles – all these elements contribute to Anne’s fascination with opera. An enthrallment that has persisted from her childhood to the present day.
At the age of eight, Anne Heßling attended her first opera – Humperdinck’s „Hansel and Gretel“ in Bonn. From that very moment, she was enchanted by the art of opera singing and decided to become an opera singer herself.

Her Path:
Anne Heßling was a master student of the esteemed mezzo-soprano Prof. KS Jeanne Piland at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf and got her Master of Music in 2017. During her studies, she received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation. Master classes with Prof. Dr. Jeanette Favaro-Reuter, Emily Rawlins-Struckmann, Brenda Rein, and KS Falk Struckmann enriched her education.
Her involvement in several university productions included notable roles such as Ciesca in Giacomo Puccini’s „Gianni Schicchi“ and Mrs. Jones in Kurt Weill’s „Street Scene“. Additionally, Anne Heßling sang the role of the Second Lady in Mozart’s „Die Zauberflöte“ in Leichlingen and the role of Aviva in the world premiere of „The Amputation of Charlie Sharp“ by Stefan Hakenberg at the Zeche Zollverein Essen. At the „BAM Kinderkonzerte“ in Düsseldorf, Anne was heard as Hansel in Engelbert Humperdinck’s „Hansel and Gretel“.
During season 2018/19, Anne joined the chorus at the Landestheater Coburg as a maternity leave replacement, where she also appeared as a chorus soloist. Her talents were showcased in two solo roles in season 2018/19 and 2019/20: Aunt Wilhelmine in Eduard Künneke’s „Der Vetter aus Dingsda“ and Mercédès in Georges Bizet’s „Carmen“.
Since season 2019/20, Anne Heßling has been a part-time member of the chorus at Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach. In addition, she performed as Adele Höllriegel in „Salon Pitzelberger & Co“ by Jacques Offenbach and as the 3rd Wood Nymph in Antonín Dvorak’s „Rusalka“ in Krefeld Mönchengladbach. Furthermore, she participated in various projects, such as reprising her role as Mercédès in „Carmen“, in the New Year’s Eve performance of „Love, Murder, and Noblesse Oblige“ and in the Opera Studio Gala.
Anne Heßling presented her Wagner debut as Waltraute in Richard Wagner’s „Die Walküre“ at the Landestheater Coburg in season 2021/22.
In season 2022/23, Anne transitioned from mezzo-soprano to youthful-dramatic soprano. During this time, she received the study assignment for Frau Mary from Richard Wagner’s „The Flying Dutchman“ at the Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach.
In the upcoming season, Anne will portray the role of Annina in „La Traviata“ by G. Verdi at the Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach.
